Liar, Liar, Fuel My Fire

Haven't yet bought the latest album by The Prodigy - "Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned" yet, not so sure about what I may be letting myself in for... great title though, and very true. So I thought I'd spin the last one for old times sake "The Fat of the Land" - big-hitting LP over here and in the states, raising the profile so much further than "Charlie Says"...

FirestarterI'm Glad I did dust this one off again, it's still pretty damn raucous, a damn fine blend of finest beats and quality anger, with some great floaty bits inbetween. The track that really makes me chuckle is the last one, "Fuel My Fire"... what a way to end a great a great album... A cover of the L7 track, and also featuring vocals from Saffron, ex lead singer of Republika, don't ya know. Always nice to know that such venom can utter forth from one so pretty... no, not Keith Flint, you daft bugger...
I've got word of thanks
Thanks that I'd like to say
For the rage that I feel
The rage that I feel today

Gotta stack, gotta stack, Stack of chips on my shoulder
In everything I do
'cause I made, 'cause I made, 'cause I made the mistake
of trusting you.
I've got a world of thanks
Thanks that I'd like to say
For the rage that I feel
The rage that I feel today

Gotta stack, Gotta stack
Stack of chips on my shoulder
In everything I do
cause I made, I made, I made
the mistake, of trusting you!

[CHORUS]
Yeah, people like you just fuel my fire
Yeah, people like you just fuel my fire
Yeah, people like you just fuel my fire
People like you just do!
Ya' liar......Ya' liar......Ya' Liar......Ya' liar!

Yeah, my layers are thick
And I got a bad attitude
Yeah, that knife in my back
Has fingerprints that belong to you

Got a grudge, Got a grudge
Got a grudge that I'm holding for as long as I live
`Cause you lied, You lied, You lied to my face
And that's something that I can't forgive

[CHORUS]

Yeah, people like you just fuel my fire
Yeah, people like you just fuel my fire
People like you just fuel my fire
While people like you just do!
Ya' Liar......Ya' Liar......Ya' Liar......Ya' Liar!
Rage On :)

That's not to demean any of the other great tracks on this album, especially "Smack My Bitch Up" and "Firestarter" for their outrageous videos - and they really did cause an outrage. Keith Flint didn't half scare the sh*t out of people on "Firestarter" LOL

The new album is really good...

I'm not sure if I like it as much as Fat of The Land (Or Experience for thet matter), but definetly(sp.!?!) worth getting...

I've been listening to it a lot recently and I'm not bored of it yet, so it can't be that bad ;)

But yeah... Get the album... Worth the money for sure.

Nice one, dude. Can't beat "The Fat of the Land" for sheer energy and angst - will check the new disc in time, I just hope they ain't lost their spark - I fucking haven't.

I miss those Prodigy days (not so long ago pre-married) I didn't know there was a new cd......

Yeah, me too. I miss the days of standing on a stack of amps and dancing me tits off with the crowd going wild. The rave scene was really quite awesome when you think about it...

...listening to it now, the new CD starts quite nasty, then goes very acid (ala BMW ad) then kinda more polished, more electronic, very 80s, rough guitar riffs, electrogroove, fuzzbox, bad acid, big bad breakbeat, noise, tripping 'round London, eastern mystic, man this is quite a journey...

    I like it :)

I just realized looking at your profile, I too am a 34 year old virgo..... oh yea, shit, I'm 35 - scratch that - I will have to get the new cd, you make it sound quite good. I noticed in the UK you guys took the rave thing a lot more seriously than us - I was there in '96 and your clubs were insane -

Lyrics are great but I've never heard any of their music. Guess I am missing something hey? :(

Yes K, you are missing out...

Now if you went clubbing, that wouldn't be an issue ;)

I've been listening to Experience a lot the last few days....

    "The walls of Jericho,
    The walls of Jericho,
    The walls of Jericho,"

"Feel the bass come down on me" ;)

Just can't get that out of my head...

Kalina - you should roll with The Prodigy... they've got spirit, genuine heart-felt attitude, real fiery passion - that's why I like aggressive music :) And then there's time to chill, so the ambient and white noise comes out to sooth my soul...

tescosuicide - don't worry dude, I'll be catching with you on the age front soon... or will I ?? LOL Hope you enjoyed your stay here in '96. That insanity was actually just on the down slope at that time, can you believe it? The Criminal Justice Act came into play some years earlier in a direct attempt to stop free parties/illegal raves and all the multiple car convoys that went with them... the "New Age Travellers" soundbite at the start of "Sad but New" by "Orbital" on the double disc version of "In Sides" was from that CJA speech by John Major, our PM at the time.

    Man, we were there... :)

SE - I shall resist the temptation of "Walls of Jericho" and immerse myself in the groove of Orbital for now, chilling with the Hartnoll brothers...
