Bad Day at Black Watch
A few weeks ago British Army were asked to go assist with an American military operation in Iraq and 850 troops of the Black Watch regiment were moved to an area south west of Baghdad, to the north of and outside of the British patrolled section of southern Iraq. The deployment is expected to be just temporary whilst U.S. forces concentrate on a mission to remove insurgents from their stronghold in the town of Falluja, west of Baghdad.
Since their arrival at their new base, the troops of the Scottish Black Watch regiment have come under constant mortar attack at "Camp Dogwood". Now, after just 2 days of operational duty they have suffered a number of casualties after an attack by a suicide bomber and, as a result, 3 British soldiers and an Iraqi interpreter have died.
Deepest sympathies go out to the families of the soldiers and civilian who died and to the families and friends of anyone and everyone who has lost their life in this stupid war in Iraq.
You can read the BBC news story Suicide attack kills UK soldiers and go to CNN to view a list of US & coalition forces casualties for the whole of this conflict.
Sympathies also go out to Tony Blair for believing this was the right thing to do and to George W Bush for being a complete warmongering asshole.
Peace to everyone else.

Do you think Tony believed it was the right thing to do? I often wonder how someone who is (hopefully) in posession of all the relevant facts could come to that conclusion. Either he was duped, or he just wanted to stick his head up Bush's ass, or he is indeed just an ass himself. Alternatively, maybe he does have all the facts, and we are the ones in the wrong.

There is the slimmest possibility that there's something he knows that he's not telling us that really justifies the action, maybe it's not in the public interest to disclose such facts, but I think it is just that; a very slim chance.
I actually like TB but he made a mistake and he knows it. He was well out of the public eye whilst the "War" was on and he came back to the public domain looking older and obviously with a problem with his ticker. He wouldn't have had the problem if he'd just listened to people in the street. All he'd have to deal with is The Bush Administration's financial repurcussions for not doing their bidding.
