I need Chocolate
11:20 - Been working since 08:00 and had about ten cups of tea (Clipper fairtrade) and half a dozen slices of toast (Warburtons wholemeal with Anchor butter - more on the environmental/ethical reasoning later ;) ) but now I am suddenly overcome with the urge to buy and devour chocolate.
I'm offski to the local shop, will report back on things chocolate...
12:18 - It's good to have the Co-op just around the corner (about 300 yards or so) and their selection is quite good. And best of all I was impressed with seeing the Fairtrade chocolate - a Dark Chocolate and the Fruit & Nut Milk Chocolate, which I grabbed. No milk chocolate, just fruit & nut.
Strong nutty scent (almonds), chewy raisins and very creamy milk chocolate. Nice. And I ate the lot too :D
The other thing about the Co-op is they print all the consumer information on their products' labelling. Apart from the usual warnings, like "This product may contain nuts" (on a bag of nuts) this chocolate has a caffeine warning - that whole bar was a 30mg hit...
I don't think I can handle the 200g Cadbury's Dairy Milk with Turkish centre... I think I'm gonna be sick...

OK, how about you handle 180g now, Rebekah? The Dairy Milk with Turkish was sitting on top of my monitor, just begging to be eaten... so I had a few CRT-heated, ever so slightly melted chunks and had to put the rest in the fridge :D
So you're welcome to share the rest, minus a few chunks, or do you want me to get you a fresh one ;)

Thats what I love about your Blog Lever, you just don't know whats coming next! Co-incidentally I did a tea count yesterday (Sun) and I usually down about 11 mugs (Twinings 1706) and you got through that much in just over 3 hours!, I'm impressed. The rest of your Blog is just making me more hungry!, I'm on a diet!, the expenses paid midriff has got to go, my weekly circuits are not enough. So it's a diet and a couple of eveings skipping a week... I hate running. However I'll keep an eye out for the Fairtrade Chocolate for later. That nutriton info is very useful for us as one of the Brom-ites has food allergies. However, we have come across stuff that says xxxx-free but contains xxxx in the list of ingredients.

Brom-man, do you suffer from DTS or Disappearing Tea Syndrome? A mug of tea is made, drunk and then you wonder where it went? So you make another and then so on and so forth. The daily count is between 20 and 30 mugs, so your 11 in 3 hours is good :) No wonder I don't get enough sleep. It's not even 8am and I'm on T2...
As for diet and weight-loss activities I argued this point only t'other day; Runners, worn out and miles from home can either walk back, run back or get a lift if they have either a) money for bus/taxi b) phone to call up the bird/mistress/Mrs/friend. Cyclists already have the wheels and can (hopefully) effortlessly trundle home AND have a seat too :D
As for the nutritional/packaging info - the co-op are one of the only companies who seem to give you ALL the facts. I think all food producers should be made to display the data, otherwise I shall just have to continue giving my money to co-op who I think deserve it :D
Davinian, LOL that's borderline alcoholism, man. A WHOLE bottle of 40% BEFORE lunch?? And Sloe Gin too... So what did you do during and after lunch? Sleeping it off would be fitting.
I used to drink everyday for XX years but have recently re: Trainspotting "had, what alcoholics call, a moment of clarity" Much as I love my grog it's time to take things easier. All that good ale and cider will have to be drunk at weekends now :D

Fairtrade helps relatively affluent countries like Mexico stay in the coffee business. The consequence is that the oversupply in coffee in maintained. That hurts the price of coffee on the world markets. Fairtrade is making matters worse, not better. Instead of Fairtrade, we should be helping coffee farmers switch to more profitable products.
