Southampton Stag Night
Well, that's another weekend over and that was my mate's Stag Night in Southampton on Saturday too.
Now, Stag Nights are normally seen as raucous events but when you have a bunch of friends with well above average IQs "Neanderthal tendencies" are happily missing. We hit the pub for a couple, met some new people in the group and then headed off to the curry house.
On leaving the pub, the best man, whom I'd not been introduced to, sparked up a mad comedy conversation about "wouldn't the female bouncer look nice wearing nothing but an earpiece - Phwooar!". When we got the curry house and I sat down next to him he admitted that he thought I was just some random geezer walking down the road LMFAO what a nutcase LOL. Oh, and we got lost on the way there too.
The curry house was good - Popadom Express - don't let the name fool you as to the quality of the place - slightly colonial yet very contemporary feel to it. Food was good, service was good, the Polish serving wench was cute and so was the fiery red-head.
Shame about the lager though - Don't like lager or Grolsch at the best of times, but at least they could have had some Kingfisher or Cobra... or even some Tiger or Singha beer would have better accompanied the meal.
And the toilets were in the middle of a maze in the basement - lucky I took a roll of twine with me and didn't find the Minotaur going for a piss ;)
Then the best man got us lost again on the way to the lapdance club. It wasn't half as seedy as places used to be, the girls were all very pleasant and mega cute too. If only I could have taken a photo of the pole-dancer for you - Wow, bendy lady and what a performer...
And that was it, all very civilised :D The wedding reception may be another matter though...

oh ha ha ha. bendy lady.
flexibility is an important trait to have in careers such as those. or so i've heard.
bendy. i would like someday to have this characteristic attached to my name. ...

LOL@ rebekah :D ...and the other pole-dancing skills are being able to spin round and round and round... and round and round... and round some more whilst being bendy and upside too... amazing.
The only potential downside to being bendy, spinny and upside-downy is possibly being at odds with the art of devouring and enjoying many packets and/or varieties of Oreos...
Unless a harmonious balance could be achieved, I'd have to flip a coin for any life changing decisions such as these...
Pole-dancer or Oreo demolisher, heads or tails...?

foiled again! dammit!
i pick oreos over spinning around naked then. pout. can't always get what you want. to quote the rolling stones. although, at this point in my life, i could be both, because i am still quite thin even with the oreo addiction. but as i get older i dont foresee that as a lasting um, what's the word? attribute?
eh. maybe i'll become a scientist when i grow up and devise a way i can be both.
or not. i'm lazy.
oh yeah, and regarding your comment about my concerts: i just recently weezer - i saw them in 2002, i think. you need to tell me that story about how you scared them and why.
and the mars volta is a huge crashing jolt of music, and it's odd and exceptionally self indulgent. i just quite like all the screaming and guitars sounding like mirrors breaking. but i'm weird that way.

Lever, that sounds so familiar, Stag nights can be so like that, a crowd of blokes getting together that don't necessarily know each other. Sounds like a fine ole' night all the same. I agree on the beer as well. "Popodum Express" .. fantastic!

Ah, late Weezer, OK. Thanks Rebekah :D So where do you want me then, your place or mine? I should pop over and comment at Rebels Advocate, then we can keep the continuity... no point talking Weezer in a post about Stag Do (is that like deer crap?) LOL
Hey Brom-man, it was just like that... Didn't know half the people but we all got on really well. And behaved too, which is good for English/British types on a Stag Night. You know the "Popadum Express" restaurnat? I wonder if it's in the Good Curry Guide?

Never been Southhampton. Is it worth a visit one weekend?
Or it really not?

I will admit, Seffy, that the only reason I go to Southampton is because of my friends there, otherwise I'm not too sure what attractions there may be.
Been to the Boat Show, which is OK if you like boats, done a bit of shopping, been to the cinema and eateries at Ocean Village, hit a few pubs & clubs and been to a kebab shop. Haven't seen any shows - gigs or otherwise so I don't know what it's like for live music and performance. Well, apart from the poledancers :D
Mind you, the good thing about Southampton is it's not far from the New Forest and that's nice if you like er... forests.
Let me know what you're looking to do and I'll ask my friends what's there - they'll have a much better ideas about Southampton than me.
