(Tax) Pilgrimage to Woking
OK, so that's the annual trip to Tax Mecca over with. I wouldn't normally visit Woking town by choice, but I do have to hand in my Tax returns (at the very last minute) otherwise Mr Tax man (Mr IRS to some of you) will fine me lots of money for having problems filling in his "need a degree to work them out" tax forms. Remind me to get a good tax Accountant in next year ;)
Anyway, enough about the boring old tax problems, did you know that the first cylinder to crash in H.G. Wells' "War of the Worlds" (to be a big Spielberg film this year with Tom Cruise starring) was at Horsell Common? According to Jeff Wayne it was...
So, going from Tax forms to alien invaders I thought you'd like to see the stainless steel tripod sculpture in the town centre rather than a photostat of my self assessment forms ;)

That picture is weird - it looks like a drawing - but yet I know it’s a photo - weird?!?

Yeah, it was quite dark between the buildings and I didn't want to let the 'beautiful' urban skyline spoil the shot of the tripod... so I let a fair bit of light in and the effect is quite pleasing : 1/220, f3.6, ISO 200 on my old Fuji FinePix S602zoom ;)

yes, weird.
i'm going to go ahead and go on the record as saying i think tom cruise has a pig face and you couldnt pay me enough money to watch movies with him and his pig face in them.
:: sigh :: i like that book i dont want it to be a freaking tom cruise movie. dammit.
i might get violent about this later ... after i've woken up a bit. it's still early for me ...

Hmmm, you're both right on the money there; 12 hours after posting that photo I'm seeing that it's quite bizarre too... I can see that it looks like an illustration now and that makes me grin... Cool :D
And as for old "pig face" himself LOL absolutely no comment - I neither like nor dislike Tom Cruise...
More to the point, I didn't read the book but listened to Jeff Wayne's double vinyl version (Mmmm...vinyl) so where's 19th Century England... Peter Jackson didn't put the Hobbits in 21st century TFFT, so why's Spiely making this a modern take?
Anyway, it's pissing annoying that "The Time Machine" got stolen from us too... that was British an' all you thieving buggers Grrr LOL ;-)

Yep, it's in Woking, Surrey and it's made of stainless steel... it's incredibly shiny and sits in a really uninspiring bit of the town (yeah, like WHICH bit's that? LOL)
Next time I have the pleasure of sampling Woking's urban delights I'll take a shot of that sculpture in its surroundings, so that you can wonder... why there?

I was going to make a comment about "Woking mans Tax" but on second thoughts I won't
Mine sorta balanced itself out this year.
A new War Of The Worlds, Hmmm, I hope it's a goodie.

Ah, the delights of surrey eh?
Surrey. Surrey. That word reminds me of porridge...
Ok, I'm weird. What you gonna do?

Brom-man: LOL, OK, nothing about Woking lunch either ;)
This is the first year I have to pay them... oh well, that's the price of earning a little extra :D
War of the Worlds - Hmmm, being Spielberg it *should* be good, but I would have liked to see it 'as was'... we seem to be 'modernising', reprocessing and regurgitating everything these days... from music to films. There is only one Italian Job...
But you're right there, Brom-man, I hope it's good :D
Seffy: Morning Seffy :D Yep, my friend Tony always refers to it as "Slurrey" just to piss off our friends across the border. Though you couldn't put brown sugar and evaporated milk on slurry and enjoy it half as much as porridge...
And as for you being weird, what am I gonna do...?
...congratulations, Seffy, join the club... infact, don't you think you're actually genuinely cool, OK, normal and it's mainstream society that's actually weird? I do :D
