What is this... that stands before me?

OzzyAwesome. Thanks Rebekah ;)

Mention of playing Black Sabbath loud in the car sparked me into realising I didn't have much in the way of Sabbath music anymore - only a copy of 1983's Born Again, which Sabbath purists bemoan for having Ian Gillan at the mike.

But anyway, I realised that the tapes were probably in the attic but then maybe not - and anyhow, I wasn't going to to go rummage only to have to dig out the old JVC tapedeck and wire it all up again. So easy option - Amazon :)

And what is this... that plays before me?

Black Sabbath - the eponymously titled debut track - wicked !!

Anyone remember the parody on Neil's Heavy Concept Album? The intro to that mad old track "Lentil Nightmare" ? Oh nevermind. OH NOOOoooooo...
What is this that stands before me?
Figure in black which points at me
Turn ’round quick and start to run
Find out I’m the chosen one

OH, NOOOoooooo

Big black shape with eyes of fire
Telling people their desire
Satan sitting there, he’s smiling
Watch those flames get higher and higher

Oh, no, no, please god help me

Is it the end my friend?
Satan’s coming ’round the bend
People running ’cause they’re scared
You people better go and beware

No, no, please, no

Now I got to go listen to "Master of Reallity" and "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath". "Never Say Die" should be here tomorrow :D

Oh Yeah ;)

    Davinian: Yep, that's me :D

Seffy: The thing about early Sabbath is that it ain't just heavy metal - they're very bluesy as well.

IMHO Kings of Leon are like early Sabbath for the 21st century. And remember that "Black Sabbath" is a 35 year old album...

The short tracks "Embryo" and "Orchid" on Sabbath's "Masters of Reality" are both folksy gems of Englishness :)

Grrrl, your musical knowledge will just grow and grow... one day you'll have your own show ;)

RahX: Way to go, dude. Though I have to admit to not really being into pop music at all.

Pop is like a 99c burger when compared to the gourmet delights of all other forms of music :D

Pepper: I see what you mean, pepper... nice new blogger comment system :D There's plenty of info at the blogger comments FAQ. So, will they soon be enabling trackback I wonder?

And The Cardigans doing Sabbath covers? Wow, must check 'em out sometime. Wouldn't have put them down as Sabbath fans, I just remember them for that "Love Fool" track.

Saw on TV last night a brief mention that Sabbath original line-up is doing a gig this year...

Seffy: Of course, Rocky Horror... written by that bald headed guy who hosted the Crystal Maze... wotsisname... Richard O'Brien!

The live Rocky Horror's supposed to be a laugh... not sure about that dressing up lark though...

Yes, Richard Obrien, or as true RHS fans call him, ROB.
I was a rocky horror show transylvanian at Halloween the year before last, and my best friend was Columbia, the tap dancer.

Seffy: You have sparked my interest in Rocky Horror again, grrrl. Thx :D

We used to do "the TimeWarp" at the Majestic Club in Reading... it used to get a bit heavy and I remember tables flying over, bodies scattered and beer everywhere...

Nowadays I tend to behave a *bit* better ;)

RahX: LOL Now THAT is a very good point, my friend... you may have started something there... ;)
