Watership Down

It's not just the name of a book by Richard Adams, it's an actual place in Hampshire.
And, as with the rest of England, there really hasn't been that much rabbit activity of late, probably due to myxomatosis, I don't know...
But there were a load of bikers "tearing up" the countryside this Saturday.
It was early, it was sunny and it was cold and windy. The route 'round the Watership Down area of Hampshire, including White Hill and the TV mast at Hannington was about 25 miles and it was knackering. I even managed to take a tumble on a downhill section and rip some skin :D
But, did the whole 25 miles, albeit 5 of them rather reluctantly, and was happy to eventually make it home for a hot bath and 12 and a half hour sleep. Mmm, sleep.
Need to keep working at my fitness, that was an evil day out, but plenty more of those to come. Roll on warm days and sunshine...
BTW, sorry 'bout the blot on the sky photo. The CCD on my old Fuji S602 has burnt out after nearly 3 years of constant (ab)use. Nevermind fixing or buying new cameras, there's a car to MOT by the end of the month.

I can't wait to get back outdoors and get my butt in shape. I quit smoking last year and spent all summer getting healthy then spent all winter getting a gut :P
So i'm going to be quite literally going balls to the wall with exersize. Primarily rollerblading and biking for the lower half, kyaking for the upper half. I usually do a lot of situps at home too.
I'm psyched.

And there was I thinking that blot on the skyline was a Nuke hitting Basingstoke... oh, sorry, that would be too good for the place ;)

LOL, know just what ya mean dude :D How about getting one of those cycle trainers for next winter so you can cycle indoors and watch movies at the same time? Crazy? You bet :)
Kayaking - now that's a cool move, was supposed to do some o' that last year but didn't find time.
So you getting any inklings of spring on the way? It's warming up and getting light here - I'm getting well hyped up about the summer too, it's gonna be good :D

Hey Red, LOL, Basingstoke - yeah, it has a kind of stigma attached to it, bit like that other great town Bracknell, and then our very own soon to be "redveloped" hell hole of Farnborough... I'm really looking forward to having another superstore... not.

oops
I'd get one of those bikes if I had the room for it.
Sadly no signs of spring yet. We had one teaser day about 3 weeks ago where it got up to 60 then right back to the teens the next day.

I'm going swimming on friday to get fit! go me. I am thin but not fit.
Although, a fun fact about me: when I was 9 I did the Race For Live charity run and I did it in half an hour without stopping. (it's 5k - 3 miles)

RahX: Seriously dude, you can buy a trainer that clamps onto the rear spindles of your bike and just lifts it off the deck. Not the most comfy seat in the house (or garage) but it's one way to stay fit in the winter :)
Spring is on the way... I guarantee it will be here sometime this year... ;)
Brom-man: Thanks, Brom-man. Just keeping the momentum going from your "Looking Forward" blog entry. Nearly 6 weeks later and it's slowly getting there. I'm sure spring wasn't this late last year...
Jay: Hi Jay. Likewise :D To an insomniac, sleep is the itch that can never be scratched, but it got a bit of a scratch on Saturday night... a record 12.5 hours... yeah, bliss. I never even listed my dreams of that night... bizarre they were too, if I can remember them.
Seffy: Very true. Swimming is supposed to be very good for fitness. Just a shame it involves all that water...
Running, that's like cycling but without a seat isn't it? How much you raise and who did the money go to? Always interested to see where the cash goes...
