I Want You...

...to play in England sometime soon...

Danko JonesRandomly surfing the 'net the other day (as you do) and saw some mp3 links for Danko Jones. Familiar name. Great sound. And sorry for forgetting where the links were, whoeveryouwere, you'd surely get credit if the memory served me correctly :)

Anyways - yeah, Danko Jones. Not much to say really but "shit hot". From the stuttering sleeze of Bounce, the raucous & lusty I Want You to the Thin Lizzy-esque Heartbreak's a Blessing... this Toronto power trio have a lot of flavours. Low-hung bass lines, punked-up blues licks and venomous vocal harmonies all topped off with bags of raw energy - these boys sound like they can really get the crowd moving.

So, if the north of England's greatest teenage groupie could lend a hand here (yes, Seffy, I'm talking about you) and get Danko Jones to play the UK then I'll buy you a CokeTM ;)

    A boy with a guitar *is* in fact a classic and effective way to lure...[hair flip and eyelash bat]
    Caveat to ladies (including self): Boys that play guitar (as opposed to drummers and bassists) tend to be more egomaniacal....'course you may be different, Lever...

    Seduction? Mmm, maybe, maybe... the sounds just got my blood coursing, in the nicest of ways, of course :) I mean, what good is music without passion? Or passion without music? A day without music or a day without passion?

    This time last year the hair flip would have worked a treat, but after a blazing summer it went down to the wood again... so that option's out of the question for now. The guitar just needs a *little* more work...

    As for ego-mania, I'll let you be the judge of that ;) (haha, that sounds just great doesn't it? I'll *let you* be the judge of that... oh the irony LOL) You *would* tell me if I got out of hand wouldn't you, Becky & the Bloggers? I'm pretty receptive to being *reigned in* if needs be... to a certain extent: Ah, you know what I mean LOL :D

    Now, lady DJs - that's pretty damn cool. Tash the drummer chick from W.O.M.B. is hot stuff, but lady DJs.... oooh... they're sirens too... ;)

    But anyways, Danko Jones are a buzzing band don't you agree? Bloc Party were bloody excellent and now Danko Jones are on the decks... different, raucous, fantastic. Love it :D

    And yes, I do believe that lady DJs *rock.* ;) Good you see it that way...

    And Danko Jones. Hmmm, the first listen report is: good, but not necessarily my style. Nice lyrics, however.

    And on the sound of Danko Jones, well that's OK, we can't agree on everything :p ;) I'd put money on it that Danko Jones are a complete riot live. Gotta see 'em.

    Thanks for pointing me in the direction of Danko Jones Lever. There are times you need some down to business no nonsense rock, they reminded me of Dr Feelgood and Nine below Zero, two more bands that know the TRUE meaning of R&B, i.e proper rhythm and blues.

    Becky, boys with guitars.. well I have 5 of em!!, guitars that is

    Lever: Your shirt of the day, when I first glanced at it I thought it said "Threadworm" ROTFLMAO!

    Brom-man: Ah Brom-man, Nine Below Zero - what a most excellent band - I did hear a little of them in there too - when I was a nipper their name was painted in HUGE letters on the side of the sports hut in Springfield Park, Chelmsford - that was the first grafitti I ever saw. They were big in Essex for sure. Yes, those memories flowed back whilst listening to Danko Jones :)

    And Dr Feelgood is a name that keeps cropping up - most recently in the Joe Strummer book, as recommended by Michelle. They must go on the list for a check-out sometime, cheers Brom :)

    I just listened to Bounce, with I Want You playing now. Awesome stuff, gritty no-nonsense rock. But one pet peeve, and this is to do with the lyrics:

    YOUR =/= YOU'RE. THE FIRST IS GENITIVE, THE SECOND IS A CONTRACTION OF YOU ARE.

    Whew, all better. And don't get me started on there/their/they're.
