Great British Beer Festival 2005

Hot on the heels of Brom-man and Davinian, I made it down (up?) to the Great British Beer Festival 2005 at Olympia... that's in Kensington, London for those of you who don't know ;)

With an invite from D himself and Johnny Boy, it was a 30 min walk to the station, 45 mins to London and 10 mins queuing at the cashpoint.

Anyways... whilst D and JB were sampling the ciders, I started on a "Triple B", followed by a "Dark Stranger", had some "Rumpus", a medium cider and some... oh god, what was it... at this point the name escapes me... it was American, 6.5%, quite pricey... Ah, "HopDevil"... Nice!

With steak-filled cornish pasties, salad-laden chicken kebabs, the beer belly competition, bumping into an old schoolfriend, most enjoyable company (cheers D, JB & Lou) and a sing and a shout on the train(s) home, it was a jolly good day out. Even the guy on the train who made me aware of a new and unbeknown to me stereotype by discussing his designs on fathering 20 illigitimate children, I just *had* to laugh at...

OK, who's coming along for some fun next year? :D

RahX: Yeah, man. Awesome! British, American, German, Belgian beers... it was excellent... could have come out of it FAR more worse for wear... :)

Piniyini: Nah, I'm Mr. Closeup LOL I did the same at Prodigy the night after, learning from this one and got a better picture...

Rebekah: Cool :) It'll be nice to have the American contingent with us... hey, we could probably ALL go there, esp if Brom-man turns up too :)

Glad you made it Lever. It was a great event.

Was thinking the same Re: a get-together. We should start a collection for Reb. I could throw in a few airmiles ;-)

I can't see me on the ciders tho!

It was mighty fine meeting up with your good self Lever, I just wish I still wasn't feeling that ropey - it must have been that bright orange cider!!!

Rebekah: LOL Props to Rebekah - quite literally :) Sure thing, but I got problems keeping myself upright sometimes, so we'd have to organise something... I swear D & JB mentioned those little electric cart things... I wonder if we could get away with driving those things after a riotous amount of ale... *more chin rubbing* LOL

Yeah, we should organise getting everybody together for the GBBF '06... :D

Brom-man: Yeah, it was ace. I didn't think I had that much beer but it was strong, tasty & quality and the company was good too :) Definately have to catch you there next year or even at the Woking Beer Festival in November...

Yeah, that GBBF '06 sounds like a good'un... hmmm *even more chin rubbing*

Johnny Boy: Hey Johnny Boy :) Dunno if D passed on the message but thanks for Saturday... was good fun :) Yeah, that bright orange stuff looked a bit radioactive... :S

The Weird Weekend? Yeah, lemme know the dates for that again... with all that ale quaffing going on I've positively forgotten when it was again LOL

Johnny Boy: Ah, cheers for the link, Johnny Boy :) I might just have to do that, especially win light of the beer business I recall being mentioned ;)

SFMD: LOL, yeah ;) Sounds like it's gonna be a blogger's union at the GGBF '06...

Keeefer: LOL, OK dude... or maybe some old pizza boxes... I hear the stuck-on bits of stringy cheese act like insulation...

I'm sure it could get far messier than what we experienced, especially with that BRIGHT orange cider stuff...
