Things that go KABOOM in the night
Having peeled my slumbering form off the sofa at around 4:30am I retired to a proper bed and continued drifting through the wastelands of sleep.
At around 6 o' clock one of my cats jumped on the bed and woke me up again.
Then at 6:03am there was a loud KABOOM, the catflap in the kitchen door swung open and shut... Was I dreaming? Was I half-imagining that? Was it the local military on exercise? Had their ammo dump gone up in a fireball? Was that an earth tremor?
I checked Google for news. Nothing. I fell into sleep again.
And now at just after 10am...
Massive explosions hit fuel depot

Where it states...
Good luck to everybody trying to breath up there, inhaling the fumes from 60 million gallons of fuel on fire...
Glad I filled up the car yesterday, I can just see the price of petrol going up a tad, so I must thank my lucky stars I *only* paid GBP50.54 for a tank of super (that's USD88.70)
Must ring my mother now, she's just 20 miles away from there. I wonder what flavour their air is...?

Where it states...
"Three large explosions have rocked a fuel depot near Hemel Hempstead in Hertfordshire shooting flames hundreds of feet into the sky."...and more poignantly...
"The first blast happened at 0603 GMT at the Buncefield fuel depot, close to junction 8 of the M1 motorway and was heard more than 100 miles away."That'll be Farnborough then, we're only 40 miles from Hemel Hempstead.

Well, I don't know your name, even you know mine, but some time ago, I was looking for some photos from Joy Diviosn band, then I saw a nacked woman with the link below written Joy Division. At first, I got surprised, but then when I look your post of Joy Division, I got more surprised. It was almost perfect. I'm Brazilian, I'm 14 years old and I have one blog too. But mine, it's written in portuguese. And I think you won't understand.
Well, it's nice to meet you and please, if you can, send me an e-mail: zerinho4@hotmail.com
Bye!

Bruno: Hello Bruno, nice to have you onboard. I'm a big Joy Division fan myself so good to meet you :)
I think you stumbled upon the issues we had here with hotlinking - So many people were linking to the Joy Division images from their websites that it was becoming an annoyance and using up our bandwidth. Rather than track down every one of the very many sites and send "cease & desist" emails, wait for replies and continue to have our bandwidth used up whilst waiting for compliance, we originally swapped Ian Curtis for pics of naked girls :D Then we just banned hot linking.
Anyway, your English is bloody good, I just wish I could speak another language as well as you speak mine :) Cheers Bruno :D

If I'd been in the area, I know I would have slept through it, since I did sleep through an earthquake in San Francisco !!!
I was visiting the olds this weekend, in Sussex, and we didn't hear anything. Not good though :( Hope that petrol prices don't go up that much... I'm doing 84miles a day :(

Yikes!
The more I read about this explosion, the more concerned I get for you, dear! All this air pollution drifting through your neighborhood! I really don't like it! Poor Saffron is just going to have to stay in doors (in case she was even thinking of braving the cold...) And your gas prices are already bad enough...*shakes head*
Careful, babe.

Red: LMAO You slept through an earthquake in San Fransisco? That's too funny. Despite the threat of Tremors, San Fran is somewhere that MUST be visited one day. Cheers for the reminder, Red :)
Well, at least you had clean air in the shire of the Southern Saxons, Farnborough seemed to have a cloud hover over up to its northern borders all day long - really weird it was but the sun shone all day long :)
Did you not get a Peugeot diesel last time? What about an old VW diesel, you could run it on chip fat?
My BBFK: Thx babe, it seems the dark cloud stoppped just north of here... lucky, that :)
Girly is out right now, I don't know why when she has a perfectly snug home to stay in :)
Yep, an $88 tank of gas is the most I've ever had to pay, lucky I do so little mileage, that *should* last a month :)
S'OK, I'll be careful, I'm gonna go buy a respirator and a tank of oxygen I think ;)

Blech. Half heard about this on the news tonight, but not enough to pay attention to where it was. Good luck over the next few days as they try to put it out.

Hey Lever, yes, I did manage to sleep through one, but apparently it was a small one. In my defence it was the day we had arrived and I was tired, plus a pint or two of Sam Adams to help :-)
Its a must be visited place though, absolutely essential. I would also do a drive down to the desert, around Palm Springs, and then out to Phoenix :) Fantastic !
LOL on the VW chip fat, they don't seem to do any automatics in deseasal ;-)

Mummy/Crit: Yeah, they'll need it, covering all that burning petrol with foam :| I don't like the colour of the sky north of here though :S
Piniyini: LOL typical. People rubbernecking at the flames is the biggest problem with the traffic I guess.
Get a bike. Get a diesel. Convert your diesel and run it on chip fat or waste oil from restaurants. I think I'll get a diesel next...
Dude, I've been away from my email most of the weekend, I'll go check now ;)
Superfan: LMAO Madness indeed :)
Hi Seffy :D I'm good. How're you doing? Yeah, we've missed you too :)
You lucky northerners with all your.... rain and stuff LOL ;)
OK, I'll be over when I've finished this (teabreak) and the rest of me work :)
Mister Red: Oh, MISTER Red now is it? LOL
Oh, Sam Adams, good stuff. Interesting they serve it in CA too. Yep SF is on the list for def
Hmm, OK, how about VW Golf Diesel with DSG?
Bruno: Hey Bruno, no worries dude, you'll pick up 100% on your English soon enough 'round here plus maybe some slang too LOL :)
Yep, Joy Division were the best band of their time and it was so good New Order covered some of their tunes at the gig last month... Encore :)
Rebekah: LOL, yeah, the cloud stoipped north o' here and the breathing is fine, so that was well avoided even at 45 miles away ;)
[-o-] : LMAO Now that woulda been fun, though it would probably have lasted for a few hours :) ;)
