Well, if I were to pick according to how interesting the book sounded, I would choose Human Punk. However, my vote's for the dullest sounding one: Electrician's Guide... because then a.) you can loan me Human Punk and b.) even the idea of reading will invoke boredom and you'll call me instead. ;)

My BBFK: Human Punk huh? OK. I think that's a daft sounding title anyway, I mean we're punks by default right? When was the last time you saw a Goat Punk or a Wombat Punk? Sheesh ;)
The Electrician's Guide is definitely one for bedtime *yawns* ;)
Rebekah: So Goat Punk again aye? Or the Satanic Verses... OK.
Sorry ya fell asleep but it has been kinda empty 'round here since BBFK flew home :(

Restless Angel: I think I read that book once when I was a teen, my Uncle loaned it me. Apart from Jim Morrisson chasing his bro with a fake dog doo and being buried in Paris, I remember little else of it :) It will be good to listen to the sounds of The Doors this time round too, Cheers, Angel :)

(ohh cool new comment UI).
I'd vote for Catch 22 as its one of those stock phrases everyone uses who doesn't know why. Something I've been thinking about borrowin from my mates.
It has to be something different to what you do... for me, I've just bought two books from amazon, one work book (Windows server administration from the CLI) and one other, a John Grisham.... should be different ;-)

Red: Ah cool on the UI, it's just a blogger option that I decided to tick so people could still see the post and comment with that window open, handy I hope :)
Catch 22 huh? Now catch 22 is at the heart of me kicking my way into the web industry some 7 years ago as I couldn't get a job without the experience and I couldn't get the experience without a job... and catch 22 also played a part when I named the business too...
Windows server form the CLI? Erm, OK, you got me on that one, I've not heard the acronym (TLA) CLI before. And didn't Grisham write "The Pelican Brief"?

"Catch-22" is likely the only book in that pile that people will still be reading in 100 years (I'm not a Rushdie fan, and you already know what Chomsky thinks about capitalist governments). And if you really, really, really like that one, there's an interesting semi-sequel called "Something Happened" - although it might be too slow paced for casual readers.
Of course, the Hawkwind bio might be worth it if only to read about how they kicked Lemmy out of the band.
My next book is going to be "Infinite Jest".

Groucho Castaneda: Another ping for "Catch 22" Cheers Dude :) And a sequel too... well, if C22 is a good read I'll check "Something Happened". 2nd hand books are SO good these days :)
Rushdie I know nothing of his style but obviously he was high on the agenda in the news a few years back and it'd be interesting to see what the fatwa was about.
Chomsky's views are, as you say, well known but it's the how & why in specific areas. He's a very clear thinker and, yes, sometimes does drop a little too much sarcasm in the mix. But his reasons against the current form of capitalism should be realised by all members of world society and acted upon so there can be a better & fairer mix of capitalism & socialism or a true mixed market economy.
And the Hawkwind BIo will be interesting to see the lives behind these heroes of mine. I think Lemmy did well out on his own.
Now "Infinite Jest"... LMAO I like the idea that "each calendar year is now subsidized by retail advertising"... No I don't, that's scary...
