Bring back Amphitheatres

There's a lot of numb-nuts in the world who want to kill; think terrorists, insurgents, racists, violent thugs, lager louts, vicious hooligans etc etc. Now, if we brought back Amphitheatres we could throw all the violent nutters, various assorted criminals and wannabee killers in the ring and let them just sort eachother out. No more prison, no more psycho killers, job done!

Glad you agree, sweetie. I've been thinking about this for many years, and even when I went to the Amphitheatre at Silchester the other day the thought persisted. It has to be done :) Think about the business side of it... we could make a killing... ;)
Kat E: Yep, you got the job, beer-girl. I reckon you'd do a roaring trade... talking of which I reckon a few lions thrown into the show would spice things up a bit too. As long as the lions don't get hurt though, couldn't handle that. Any crim that hurts a lion get s harpooned immediately!!!

George Carlin said a similar thing back in the 80s-90s. Only he wanted to put all the muderers and rapists into CO, NM, NE, UT. They form a nice sqare and let them take care of each other.

Rebekah: Yep. Sure can :) But like I mentioned to Kat E, if any "contestant" so much much as busts a lion's nails they get speared! And we can feed the lions pure crim so they get a taste for perps only.

Lever...Hi, I happened upon your site via Project 76, my friend Dan's Blog...
This is just an amazingly great idea....there are amphitheatres all over Europe too.. so there's no shortage of sites...and they are quite easy to copy for the US...( they could have extra big SuperBowl-sized ones there !!)
It would sort out all the problem with the cost to the tax-payer to keep these guys in prison too...as the games would be entertainment that everyone would happily pay to go and see !!! Might even make a profit...
Well done for solving one of our most taxing problems !

LOL Yeah, the SuperBowl idea is pretty damn cool, though I reckon there'd be too many adverts ;)
I heard, a couple of years back, that it costs something like £28,000 a year to keep an offender in prison and considering the UK average wage is supposed to be about £22,000 that's not a good scenario. So yeah, we could have more tax money to spent on things like big green parks and playgrounds and all sorts of fun stuff instead :D
