Outlaw

So, to compensate for rough tough Lever having gone to a flower show, I kept the yin yang (pH?) balance by hitting a bar in the city of Gloucester to be an extra for the new Nick Love movie, Outlaw.

Outlaw - The MovieThe story goes that the police are just not up to the job of dealing with the rising tide of violent crime, so a group of guys take the law into their own hands!

Despite signing up for this film before there was even a cast list, it was a relief to see Sean Bean (Lord of the Rings, Ronin, Patriot Games, Troy, Sharpe (TV) ...), Danny Dyer (The Football Factory, The Business, Mean Machine, Human Traffic...) and Lennie James (Snatch, 24 hour Party People...) on the roster.

If you get to see the film next year, look out for the pub scene where the Outlaws hatch their plans... the guy behind Sean & Danny, hustling the fruit machines is yours truly; it'll probably be one of those "look, that's my elbow" moments, but who cares? It was a bloody good laugh :) As one of the lads said, it was like being in The Truman Show where, right on cue, we start going about our business whilst reallity focuses on the main characters.

Oh, and about beer on film sets... plenty of people were given poncy bottles of alco-pops but I was lucky enough to have a pint of beer... though it was that Kalliber non-alcoholic stuff and to make the scene a little more reallistic I kept swigging it - under the lights and being on this shot for about 4 hours it was warm, flat and disgusting.

And a big shout out to Rich & to Chris; we were the first three amigos there and the last three to leave. Oh, and Chris runs the Danny Dyer website BTW ;)

UPDATE: Tuesday - And here's a hilarious little news snippet I found on the BBC website about the filming of Outlaw... More tea, vicar?

There is a group of guys *actually* doing this in downtown minneapolis/st.paul minnesota after a string of senseless shootings outside of clubs.

    Scary stuff.

RahX: Wow, that's weird :S Innocent people hurt or dodgy dealers dead? Makes you not wanna go to these sort of places incase you end up caught in the crossfire :o

There's a town where I used to live some 5 miles away and once they set-up a string of new trendy pubs you expect there to be fights there on Fridays & Saturdays so plenty of the locals now tend to steer clear. Sad when that happens :(

EatYourCarrots: LOL, no worries, Steve :) Yep, Sean Bean was there alright, sitting on the sofa in the scene within 6 feet... and the chances of it ending on the cutting room floor? Well, it's a pretty integral scene :)

When he popped out for a cigarette in the street, the girls from an Argos shop across the road came out fawning over him all giggling and "coo-ee"... it was quite amusing.

    Film's due out in 2007 ;)

Anything Lever can do I can have done but not as excitingly, part 2:

I was an extra once, when I was 16.
An anti-alcohol educational film. They (some fly by night organisation called the bbc or something) made us drink alcohol. Hypocrites.

I hope the producers of your film wouldn't criticise you for random acts of violence! There's just too much hypocrisy in modern life.

    JvS: LOL :)

Well, it must have been better than Kalliber, right? ;)

It's funny you talk about the hypocrisy because Nick Love was once questioned along the lines of condoning the violence, like in The Football Factory; but he said that if someone's going to go and be violent after one of his films then you'd have to question their mental makeup prior to seeing the film. Fair enough.

I hope you don't drink demon alcohol now, JvS ;) :p

sounds like it's in the Kill Bill genra, then. Noel may have to miss your film debut...well...er...for another 15 years, maybe. ;)

And I've heard other, older stories about community justice in MN....I almost agree....

My BBFK: Hmmm, possibly, though there was TONS of blood in Kill Bill and we hadn't seen any yet. Though Danny Dyer had a black eye and Rupert Friend had a nasty scar ;)

We'll see what happens, maybe we could vet it first before girly sees it? We'll have special preview tickets, or so I've been told :)

Sigh, I wish I'd never used Clare's. Thought I'd share the pain around ...

And congrats on the new career ;)

Wandering Woman: Noooooooo! That's SO unfair. Right I'm going to come over and post you the EOS350D prices at Pixmania Belgium... :p

I wish I was filming full time, it'd beat sitting infront of a PC all week :(

I thought I was really amusing, slipping into your comments box like that ... until a friend confessed she had just bought a new EOS 350D.

It's killing me, kind of like an unrequited love ... sigh, want an income, want to be allowed to work in this bloody country ... want a digital eos mumble mutter mumble.

Wandering Woman: LOL That's a bit of karma I think ;) Or just a sign that you really MUST get an EOS...

Crikey, that old work permit issue huh? I've seen all the details of British immigration first hand and seen SO many complexities, strange circumstances, peculiar timespans... and to know it's either in French or Dutch would make my head spin.

It would have been easier if you'd just snuck in, right? ;) :)
