Hog's Back Brewery
If you're ever over this way again, let me take you to the Hog's Back Brewery just a couple of miles away in Tongham, Surrey, for that's where we went last night on a brewery tour, except Mr. Squiggles who was washing his hair or something ;)And very interesting it was too... an hour tour of a proper brewery brewing proper beer, none of that cheap mass-produced tasteless crap churned out by those faceless corporations...
No, this was stirling stuff. Starting off with a 3.5% session beer, some of that "Hair of the Hog"... then a few jugs of T.E.A. - Traditional English Ale, a 4.2% best seller... then some very tasty "Hop Garden Gold" at 4.6% and finished off with a few "Rip Snorters" weighing in at 5%. Yeah, we got to see the brewery too, see the various grains and the hops, hear about the 11,500 pints they brew every day and... drink beer.
And then we went out for a curry... which was nice.
Right, gotta go, gotta hit the Cove Tandoori now... for more curry and more beer :)

Rebekah: It's just a load of stuff I've aquired over the years... demi-jons, bungs, airlocks, big brewing bucket, syphons, corker, etc... and as for kits... well, there's the stuff in tins like Yorkshire Bitter and Newcastle Brown Ale... then there's the individual ingredients you can make to a recipe... buy your own hops, barley and yeast and mix it all up ;)
Hey... there's even a place here in Farnborough called the Home Brew Shop :D

thank you for the information :) i will be a-searching for more stuff with which to brew homemade beer. i had a cool chemistry/physics teacher in high school who made his own beer in his bathtub ... i wouldn't drink anything that came out of our bathtub though. cracker eats the hair from the drain and i'm pretty sure erik pees while he's in there. it's pretty gross. and i scrub it all the time, but still. i'm not drinking out of the bathtub.
ahem. that's all.

Have visited Hogs Back several times, even had a job interview there once. The shop's pretty amazing as well, an Aladdin's Cave of beers from all over the world, and fresh Hogs Back beer to take away!
Cheers
