Guilfest 2008
In the spirit of Guilfest we only went for one of the three days...
I'd have loved to have seen Carbon/Silicon again after shaking Mick Jones hand last year (I now realise guitar prowess cannot be passed on my mere touch alone) and we're going to see The Levellers in August anyway so that was Friday out of the reckoning.
And Saturday was Blondie headlining; my mate was in the second row for that but who else played that night I don't know.
But Sunday, oh Sunday... that was a different matter...
After we got to Farnborough North rail station we then realised the trains were not running. So they laid on a complementary/supplementary bus service which, after waiting an hour in the pissing rain, never came. I therefore had to drive to Guildford which meant no booze for me. So the half bottle of captain Morgan's rum stayed in the car.
As soon as we got into the festival site we grabbed a cider and headed for the ents24 stage - Dreadzone were on and absolutely rocking it.
The Damned were next on the main stage and were rather good.
We caught a couple of tracks from the youngsters Enjoy/Destroy in the rock tent just before Senser came on and played an absolute blinder!
Back to the main stage and From The Jam (basically The Jam minus Paul Weller) were excellent.
And finally Australian Pink Floyd finished off the night with a perfect set.
I can't say much more other than what a brilliant afternoon. If the girls had been home it would have been even better, but you can't have everything can you?

Brom: Aussie Pink Floyd are well worth seeing, Brom. Without I thought they were almost note perfect.
You've been gigging? I'm coming over to see when your next show's on!
Rebekah: Yeah, it was excellent mate. Senser were the best band for me.
I haven't heard the feedback on Blondie yet but I saw some photos... and I didn't know who half the bands were... LOL
Pietro: Pietro, thanks for popping by mate but I don't need glasses. If you could have provided me with an awesome telephoto lens for my Canon EOS 30D for the gig then I'd have been happy to review it for you mate!
BTW Isn't it fun blogging from the laptop whilst sitting on the dunnie?

Finally! A concert post from Lever that mentions a band I have actually seen! I saw the Aussie Pink Floyd play last year, and even though I was pregnant and therefore very, very sober, it was still a kick-ass show. Loved it!

Kat E: Woohoo *chest bump/high 5* Yeah, those guys were great :) I was fairly sober too on just 2x pints of pear cider over the whole 8 hour session... I wish I'd had a darn good smoke, that would have been perfect. Infact life would be better full stop if I was stoned all the time... But yeah, they were ace and, for the first time, we've got a live band in common :D

Hi there Lever,
Sounds like you had a great time. Was it as good as last year's? I love the Levellers and you will get to see Simon Friend again, this time with his mates!
We are just going to West Country festies at the moment.
No planes in Bath but lots of balloons.
Cheers
Val
