Ski Wednesday

March 28th, 2007

Becky, my clutzy Yankee doodle girlfriend, just skied down the stairs in her slippers which flipped off her feet and ended up on the hall table. Had she ended up in a pile at the foot of the stairs, like she did a couple of months ago, things might not have been so funny :)

Strangely enough, and some years ago now, an old friend, drunk and hosting a party at his house, donned his skis and skied down his staircase. After being picked up off the floor at the bottom of the staircase he was carted away to hospital only to return with his leg in plaster :)

Which all leads nicely onto this…

“Man Skis Down Escalator at Angel Tube Station, London”

Apparently the cops were not amused either.

    :)
Well, unlike the cops, I was highly amused by that little stunt.
Did you post this before or AFTER I skidded down the stairs for a second time today?
    ;)

Saw that at work before I left thanks to Blue Skies. Excellent.

I lived in a shared house once and we had a roll of carpet we used to sit astride ride down the stairs. It got better the more drink you’d had.

I can totally see B skidding down the stairs. This is the only girl I know more of a clutz then me. But we love her anyway. Glad she wasn’t hurt. Is there any hope for Noel? :)

My BBFK: I was gonna send the clip to you yesterday morning, then within the hour you did your own bit of skiing, that’s when I posted. I wasn’t sure you’d chuckle so much after skidding down the stairs a second time ;) :*

Rebekah: Here, that skiing clip made it onto the late night news last night LOL

Brom: No, no… not a carpet roll down the stairs… I envision Noel clattering into the table and knocking stuff everywhere LOL

SfMD: LMAO Well, she did manage to grab the rails and save herself somewhat, I don’t think she was hurt too much… she did laugh :)

And Noel fell down the stairs before Xmas… she was trying to ride her toy horse and went 14 steps down…. ! Needless to say we’ve been a bit wary of her antics anywhere near staircases!

I hope BBFK is OK after her skiing trip. That bloke on the tube was awesome. I fell down the stairs when D was 6 months old (I was carrying him at the time) and my back has never been the same again. i now live in a flat house. Much better.

Oh, Mummy/Crit, i’m OK, thanks. Except now I’m cringing (and I will be for awhile) over the thought of you and D careening down the stairs. That sounds terrible!

Funny b/c bunch of my outdoorsy friends were talking about this video the other day.

Stumble and fall while skiing isn’t as bad as what happened to this guy I heard about. Apparently he ran into the trees fall speed and shattered both of his arms. That got to hurt!

Blogger just lost the comments I made so I’ll just have to write them all out again. BTW blogger, did I ever tell you that, despite all the good things you’ve done, there are times when you suck BIG TIME!?

Mummy/Crit: Ouch! Put your feet up and have a cup of tea M/C, that should sort you out ;)

Yeah, I like bungalows, but they need to be bigger than my old one and have an upstairs too… wait, that’s not a bungalow anymore is it? :D

My BBFK: How do you think I feel about you, aye sweetie? It’s not big and it’s not clever, so don’t do it :p

TawCan: LOL, good timing, it was ap[parently a Norwegian guy who pulled that stunt on our tube :)

Dude, that’s gotta hurt! Our friend and neighbour twisted her leg so badly whilst skiing it splintered and she had pins & plates in her leg plus has an almighty scar apparently!

I love the tube so much, and my love for the idea of skiing is almost as great. Combining the two and putting it onto the interweb (my greatest love) is unspeakably wondrous. Huzzah.

I fell down the stairs carrying my infant daughter, let go of her (she was fine, babies bounce) and screamed hysterically at the horror of it all (she was permanently traumatised by my response). Basically what we’re saying is stairs are evil, yes?

Jemima: I have mixed feelings about the tube and have had yet to don a pair of skis ever in my life… but the web… Long live the Web, it pays my bills too :)

Yow, you dropped one of the bairns once? (we saw a kid bounce yesterday) So does a raised voice bring the wee one into line or just run in panic?

Stairs are OK, but I’d love a firepole to slide down someday :)
